Now eBay is Affecting Small Sellers With Their ‘Refurbished’ Program

When we saw this video interview from Luis Rossman talking to John Burstead, we coundn’t but agree to everything they mentioned there

We also about five month ago the strangest change eBay did: we could NOT list any item on eBay under the condition called ‘refurbished’ unless you sign a special program with them that includes a NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT (NDA), even if they don’t approve you for the program.

For our customers of course this might not sound impressive, but for small sellers like us is a problem, because it cuts our chances to sell more items.

This remind us when a long time ago, when we tried to sell used computers as ‘refurbished’ advertising on our website, we started getting letters from Microsoft because you couldn’t sell computers with Windows as a ‘refurbished’ system unless you sign up a program with them.

Maybe the change from ‘refurbished’ to ‘used’ on eBay might not be a big deal for some customers, but a good percentage of buyers feel more inclined to buy when they see the word ‘refurbished’ instead of ‘used’.

Obviously we changed all out eBay items conditions to ‘used’, but this is something that actually goes against the freedom of small sellers that don’t have the luxury to sign an NDA loosing our freedom of speech.

And it could be directly related to the ‘Right To Repair’ advocacy that people like Louis Rossmann is trying to promote and that until now, no politician has been able to introduce to any legislation, probably because the great corporations pay big money to lobbyist to keep the status quo.

We will keep on reporting on this and also at the same time we will try to start again selling our products through our own website.
